Evinrude VRO: wiring diagram

I have just bought a replacement VRO pump to replace my existing one on my Evinrude 70. The original pump has no warning circuit on the pump, whereas the new one does(5 wires). There is no wiring diagram in the manual I have for the engine, and was wondering if anyone had a wiring diagram or could tell me how to connect warning system and pump/level switch. The reason i am reconnecting the VRO is due to the engine 'oiling up'. I am currently running a 50:1 premix and have lots of problems with the engine 'oiling up' after idling or slow running. If i clear the engine out using the hand throttle, then accelerate off all is ok until i let it idle again. I don't want to lean off the premix, for fear of the engine siezing on full throttle runs. Is there somthing else that could be causing these problems? Reading some of the letters here it appears that the VRO has not got a good name for itself, is it as bad as everyone makes out? Any help would be much appreciated!

The diagram should have came in the box with the VRO pump. No difference in pump pumping oil then premix. Pump pumps 50/60 to 1 depends on who you talk to.

Re: Evinrude VRO: wiring diagram

Thanks for the reply, the pump was a used unit from a late model engine, and no information was supplied with it.

Re: Evinrude VRO: wiring diagram

Sorry, I made a mistake, there are only 4 wires on the pump(light brown, purple, grey and black). The two pump wires are black, one with a bullet and the other with a ring connector on it. There are no distinguishable numbers on the pump. The engine model number is BE70ELCO, serial number G1052100. Is it possible to tell the year of manufacture from these numbers? Thanks for your reply, any info you can supply will be appreciated.

Re: Evinrude VRO: wiring diagram

Engine is 1985. The gray goes on termial board with gray tach wire. The black to clean engine ground, The tan to engine temp sensor circuit. The purple goes to a switch ignition switch) purple wire. The 2 wires from oil tank, ring connector to engine ground, bullet connector to tan temp sensor circuit. The warning horn is different and you need to know the year of motor the tank came off of to get correct horn.
