I got a boat on a storage auction that has an Evinrude motor but I dont have any clue on the Year or HP. I can not see the model number just the serial number. The seial number is R1310491. I have been reading but all I found out is the R means power head replaced but thats ii. I cannot locate this serial on the Evinrude Chart. Any ideas?? Here are some picturesphoto 1.JPGphoto 2.JPGphoto 3.JPG

You could call BRP customer service and maybe they could help you out.1-262-884-5993

The color and decals on the cowling are from the 1989 model year. You can also try their customer service phone number: 847-689-7090 in Waukegan, Ill. If the engine has no factory VRO pump, it's an 88 hp model. If it has the VRO, it could be a 90 or 110. Most of the 100 hp engines that year were the XP 100-they had special decals on the cowling, which yours does not.

There is no chance its that low of horsepower, the evinrude v6s started at 150hp and went up to 250hp, the v4 models started at 85 and went to 140. Just glancing at it, id say you have a 150 maybe a 175 just judging by the block size. Hope this helps

My error. Yes, 6 spark plugs. Must be my advanced age. The crossflow V6 engines in 1989 would have been either a 150 or a 175, assuming that it is not a commercial engine. (does not appear to be from the cowling badging.) You can easily tell the hp, by looking at the exhaust back of the engine. If it's flat, the engine is a 150. If it has bubble to it, the engine is a 175. Hard to tell from the picture, but you can tell easily with the cowling off.

It looks like a repainted 1979 model as the interior of splash cowling is pale blue, it does not have the 35 amp charging system lke the late models , it does not have the "t-pack" ignition like later models and paint is peeling around serial number and its pale blue. Looks like a older motor repainted with a later model cowling so be wary....

Fastbullet has an insightful observation. OMC used those style dual power packs from 1978 through 1988. They went to the single pack in 1989. It does have the later style carbs which were first used in 1986. So best revised guess is the engine could have been from the 86-88 model year.
