Evinrude trouble

I have a 1998 70 hp Evinrude. When I take off it powers up fine and gets up to speed, after a few minutes it bogs down and starts making a ticking noise and then dies. When I try to restart it acts like the battery is dead (turns over real slow) then if it sits for a little bit it turns over fine.

Sounds like your motor is overheating. Is the water pump and overheat alarm working?

I know this sounds stupid, but are you sure you are mixing your fuel up properly? It is 50:1 and that has to be the minimum ratio...50 parts gas to 1 part TCW-3 2-cycle oil. JMHO!

The " ticking noise " could be a rapid cycling of the VRO pump because it is starving for fuel.---------Check all fuel lines from motor to tank including inside the tank.
