evinrude tilt and trim problem

just bought old 16 ft whaler with evinrude motor model #E30ECDM.<br /><br />tilt and trim not working- originally motor would gradually fall from up position overnite but motor worked. now motor doesnt make sound and engine wont move from down position.<br /><br />would appreciate any advise

If the motor won't engage, I would check the switch and the relays. I lost a switch on an Evinrude last year and took a 1/2 day of probing with a multi-tester to find that the handle switch was faulty.<br /><br />Good luck.
