Hello my dear friends,
I am faced with a problem, my lovely old hag Ivana has almost left me stranded in the middle of the lake. 0Her issue is the starter pinion gear.
Shredded, melted or chipped away, I am unsure. All I am sure of is the teeth are dead.
Might not be the only problem but it is the one that stops me from fishing.
Im not sure if this is a simple case of wear and tear, im wondering if there are any other cases that can cause the gear to destroy itself against the mighty flywheel.

If anybody can help me locate a place or person in ontario near owen sound or newmarket that can sell me a new starter pinion gear I would greatly appreciate it.
The part number is 0309702, 0384597 would also work.

I have a 9622a and the pinion gear does wear out being plastic and all .

unless a mecanical problem exists the main reason for wearing out after 60 years + is likely pull starter yanking.

it is important to slowly pull and engage the pinion gear then pull to start the engine.

parts can be orderd from dealers... you may need a new split pin if not in the kit

expensve for plastic !
