Evinrude Special 48

What is special about this motor? I am looking at purchasing a 1992 model that is in good condition, any idea what its worth?<br />Is this a true 48 horse power? Any information is appreciated.<br />Thanks <br />Ted

What is special about this motor is there are no bells or whistles .Your basic motor no power trim ,vro etc. But the powerhead gearcase and so on are the same .What you really want to look at is the gas assit tilt mech. If this has been used in salt water and that unit fails it generally has to be cut apart. Other than that this is a pretty good motor.
