I am replacing the prop on my 1961 Evinrude Lightwin. The prop has a brass bushing in it that seems to be held in place with some sort of "packing" material. My question is, "How do I move the packing material and brass bushing from my old broken prop to my new prop?" Thanks!

How did you get a new prop without a hub in it?

Its pressed in under tremendous pressure. Im sure it wouldnt be a good idea to reuse one.

Good luck!!!

Re: Evinrude Prop

BUT..? In 1961 Evins used a break pin on a straight shaft without splines - not a rubber hub insert. Those days only Merc used it as they had the patent..

So, a prop for that is meant to have no rubber. And the bronze-alike tube is part of the prop and not interchangeable (unless you're a prop-wrokshop).
