Brothers, I am again in need of wisdom.

I need a primer solenoid for my 1993 Evinrude Intruder (E175GLERA). Choke no longer works and there is ZERO resistance across the solenoid (manual calls for 4-7 ohms)

Found it online (OMC 0433374) for between 150 and 200 HARD-EARNED bucks. Ouch.

The part has a different number on it (335228) and when I google that number I find a used primer solenoid from a 2001 Evinrude for eighty bucks. Looks the same from the picture...sooo.....

Were these things the same in lots of Evinrudes and can I get away with using the part from the 2001 115 HP engine?

Many thanks! Mac

Zero resistance means a dead short which should blow a fuse, have you checked the accuracy of your ohm meter?

I have not tested it. I'll do so. The switch will not turn the starter in the 'choke' position. It gives a short alarm instead.
