Evinrude Motor 25 hp old 1977

I see alot of these out there are they known to be a reliable Motor? What is the best year for a 25 hp motor? Compared to a Mercury or Jap Motor?<br />How many hours can you put on before a tuneup?

Howdy 440.<br /><br />When a small outboard is 25 years old, how good it is depends more on how it has been cared for than anything else.<br /><br />OMC engines from that era seem to be everywhere and giving good service. I had a few Johnnys back then: 5.5, 15, 18 and 20. All were superb engines.<br /><br />Good luck.
