Evinrude model # decipher

Hello,

I am a new member to this forum.

I recently bought a '93 Evinrude 150 hp outboard and I have a couple of questions which I hope you can help me with.

First, can anyone tell me what specific motor features are indicated by the model number: E150EXETG. I am guessing the "G" at the end indicates "Generator"? But I don't have a clue as to the "EXET."

Second, the motor tops out about 5200 rpm. Is that about right for this motor? If I am looking for an "economy cruise" setting would it be around the 60% of that?

So far, the factory has been of zero help as they won't offer "support" after ten years (looking at their site, it seems more like after 5 or 6 years), the Evinrude dealer I called was too busy to talk, and I haven't been able to locate an owner's manual for less that $32+ yet.

Anyhow, any help appreciated!

Howdy, Eric

Welcome to iboats. :)

E= Evinrude
150= 150HP
E= electric start, PT&T
X= Extra long (25") shaft
ET= year model, 1993
G= manufacturing run, irrelevant to users.

I think optimum top rpm is 5500. Could be wrong.

Thanks for the quick replies. I agree about the manual...just would like to find one that's not quite as pricey.

Anyways, I take it I can buy a manual for E150EXET and it will apply to my motor even tho there is no "G" at the end of the manual title?

Thanks again.
