evinrude lower unit

Can the lower unit housing be welded? Boat decided to go for a joy ride without the truck or trailer and the lower unit sustained about a 3 inch long by 1/2 inch wide break on the front side. Also if anyone has a lower unit housing for a 78 235 evinrude I would be interested.<br />Thanks,

1bigdog1,<br /><br />Yes they can be welded. however, it will need to be completely disassembled before doing so.<br /><br />I would watch e-bay. Lower units show up on there all of the time. Sometimes you can pick up just the case.
