Re: Evinrude Lightwin #3012-07510 question

Matt - Welcome to Iboats.

That model (3012) was made unchanged between 1952 and 1954. It was the introduction of the 3hp model, which was produced in various forms up into the 80's, as a 4.5hp. It remained basically the same for that many years because it was an excellent outboard.
HP: 3
WOT RPMS: 4000
Displacement: 5.27 cu.in. = 86.5 ccm
Cylinders: 2
Weight: 30-32 lbs
Prop: 6 1/2 x 5 3/4
Gear ratio: 12:20
Lower unit oil: OMC/BRP 'HiVis' or SAE 90/80Woutboard gearcase oil.
Fuel/Oil mix: 24:1 87 octane gas to TC-W3 outboard oil. Do not use SAE 30w anymore.
Spark plugs: Champion J6C gapped at .030" (J6J is no longer available)

1952 lightwin
1954 Lightwin

From the Old OMC Site
3hp Tuneup guide.

PS - there's a fuel filter hidden above the large brass nut above the fuel petcock. And I find the Weedless design (angled down propshaft) to work quite well.

Wow,
Paul, you are the man. This has given me a great start at learning about this motor.
The motor appears to be in very good condition for its age. I am going to start by taking the covers off and just getting familiar with it.
Thanks much,
Matt Anderson
