Well, a 1962 Lark doesn't have an alternator. They'll take a generator, mounted on the Port side of the engine, opposite of the starter. Those two black wires you see coming from your stator plate should be the ones that go to your ignition switch. In an outboard set up, the off position in the ignition switch will connect a ground to those wires, unlike an automotive ignition, that simply stops the power to the ignition.
Do not attach power to those black wires. You'll fry your coils out in a blink of an eye
