I have a 1991 150 evinrude that I just got the new carburetor bowls to replace the plastic original. The new ones are metal and the orifices plugs do not fit the intermediate hole. There are no threads to screw a new orifice in there. Is there an orifice that fits part number 437214 and if so, can someone provide the part number? It almost looks like it was manufactured to not have an orifice. This all stated when the plastic bowls warped. Please help the fish are biting.

Re: Evinrude Intermediate Orifices Plug

The replacement bowls have two problems you must address. 1. The original bowl drain screws will not fit the new bowls. You will have to buy 6 older screws and washers. 2. Those original intermediate jets don't have the correct threads to fit in the new alum bowls. You will have to determine exactly what the orfice size is of your current intermediates, then see your dealer. OMC makes different size intermediates (with the correct thread size) which you will need to purchase. As an example: Your current intermediate may be a 333461, a "C" size jet with 1/4-20 threads. 029 thousands opening. You may need jets with 8/32 thread size. 322776, .029 thousandths opening. In an event, make sure you replace the jet with the same orfice size opening. Sounds like a big hassle, but it is worth your effort to make the change.

It sounds like I have to tap my own threads to screw in the orifice or is this another issue?

NO! You are misreading my comment. The new replacement jets will screw right into the new carb bowls. No modification necessary.
