My father-in-law and I just picked up a new boat. Its a Polaris Travller with a 40hp Evinrude. First can someone tell us what year it is?
Model# 404738 or 404735(?)
Serial# C3988773
Lark 6 Select Shift

Also we where wondering if there is any sites where we could download a manual for the motor.
The guy we bought the boat off said that it needed a new coil. It will run good right up till full throttle then it will die off.
Do you think he is right?
Sorry for the long post and thanks for the help. :)

Re: Evinrude Help?

sounds like the coil to me. I would replace the ignition components coils, points, condensers, plugs and wires this is something i like to do for a sense of security and elimination of problems. IF you need any further help let me know gra6961@usa.net I also have availalility to these parts if you should need them I obtained a stock of parts and like to help those interested in running old time motors.
Let me know
ALlan

Re: Evinrude Help?

Thanks for the tips Allan.
We pulled the coils off and we will be replacing them in the spring next year. We put the boat away thinking we were going to be getting snow but so far so good. The coils looked really bad so we figured we would just replace them.
Anyway I will save your email address and get back to ya in the spring about the boat.
Thanks
Matt
