evinrude has a rattle

i have a 1995 45 hp commercial evinrude, the other day a was running it at WOT, when it suddenly lost power and went dead, i crank it back up and continued along. when i stopped and cranked it again i noticed a distinct rattling while idling. there was also an excess amount of milky looking oil coming out of the prop exhaust, the motor still ran fine....any ideas?

Trey....first thing I'd do would give it a through check-up. Compression, spark, check the lower unit for water. Finding a rattle can be a hit and miss process sometines. If it's mechanical and effecting the engine, should be easy to track down though.
