Re: Evinrude fuel connector question

Just had a guy look at the problem, not a pro but he has an outboard. He suggests that maybe there is a block in the fuel line or a problem at the fuel pump causing the fuel to spew out at the connector. I am going to strip out the fuel line and take a look

Re: Evinrude fuel connector question

there are o-rings in the female connector end that go bad. if this is where the leak is, I will almost guarantee that your o-ring is nicked or split. you have to pull the connector off the line, use a pin drift to drive out the cap to be able to replace the o-rings.

Hi Scott
Thanks for the input.............I dont think it can be the o ring in the female connector as I just brought it. Thanks anyway for taking the time to reply

new doesnt mean good. it just means you recently purchased it. use a small screw driver, press in the spring-loaded cap, and inspect the o-ring

Re: Evinrude fuel connector question

Many after-market parts are good value and work OK.

But....I've bought 2 non OEM fuel fittings over the years for OMC outboards and they both caused nothing but problems. Neither fit properly and neither worked properly.
Add in the time spent troubleshooting and the wasted $$$ since they were non-returnable and the OEM parts are cheap at the price.... IMO.
