Hi, I have wired a minor engine control tester.

Everything works fine, the gauges, trim, however I cannot get this buzzer to work, and I am not 100% sure what causes that short "BEEP" when you turn the key 1 position.

1 - so based on the wiring diagram the buzzer is connected to a ground that is on the controller frame and not the main ground... does this matter or? if I have this wooden board where should it ground?

2 - where do i attach the ground? i connected a wire to main ground and the metal part of the speaker inside the holes and it made a beep.

3 - what is that little hole in the back?

4 - what causes the sort beep, I understand the long beep is created by the brown wire for TEMP warning, but what causes that short beep when you turn the key?

Its kinda ridiculous i got everything working fine outside of this buzzer... any help would be really appreciated

Thanks

I think you need the later model 3 wire buzzer to get the key ON beep.
I suspect the duration of the key ON beep would be controlled by electronics inside the actual 3 wire buzzer.

The two wire horn you show here is an electric horn... the three wire horn is an "electronic" horn which is needed for the automatic test beep when you turn the key on. If you want a test horn, run a wire from the TAN wire to a terminal of a momentary toggle switch (one that springs back to neutral), then from the other terminal of the toggle switch to ground. Flipping the toggle will cause the horn to beep.

Thanks, I was suspecting this as I had a few controllers 4-5 different ones and I salvaged a fairly old one for these parts.

So it seems like not all motors from the early day produced the beep. This horn will work as a warning if overheating just as the 3 prong, but produce no immediate beep.

Everything on my test bench was working except for this.

1 - the safety kill switch
--- does connecting the two wires kill the motor
--- disconnecting the two lets it run

is this correct?

Thanks
