My coworker has a cd 16 evinrude 5.5hp sea horse he figured to be a 1958-1959. Where would be a good place for him to find parts? Any thoughts?

It's a 1959. What kind of parts? They have a lot of commonly used parts right here at iboats.

And it would be a Johnson (by the model number and "Sea Horse" name), not an Evinrude. If the cowling says Evinrude and the tag says CD-16, then someone has been swapping parts around - not uncommon...

Sharp eye there, chinewalker. It might not even be a CD-16, if it was the clamp brackets that somebody swapped.

My Dad called them "Johnny Cash" motors after the song about Johnny Cash's Cadillac "One Piece at a Time". He loved having a motor with a bit of Johnson Green, Bronze, White or Gray, a couple Evinrude Blues, maybe some Gale Teal for good measure. There's a few out there that he built years ago that I am sure are giving someone fits as they try to figure out what-the-ell-is-that...

I am working on my ancient South Bend lathe. Man talk about a mix and match mongrel. Nothing I buy for it fits, though it's "supposed" to. Seems like everything on it has been replaced at one time or another. They must have built them one at a time back then.
