The timing normally does not go out of adjustment.-------You can check the ignition timing by starting the motor and then point your timing light at the 2 vertical lines on the magneto plate.----The mark on the flywheel for each cylinder should show up between the 2 lines,

Why do you think there is an issue with the timing ?----Is motor not running starting properly ?

yes thats right not starting propertly...its hard to start because i was changing plates and condensors and then the timing is wrong...i rebuilt fuel pump, clean carburator, all new wires and magnetos but steal when i start the motor he is not running propertly!!

There is no adjustment to the ignition timing, except for breaker points gap, which should be .020 inch at their widest opening.

Check your breaker point gap again and as said above, that's what sets your timing.

I am now thinking the subject of the question is usually called " linc and sync " or the adjustment of throttle opening and that adjustable stop on the rod to the tower shaft.

yes that is what I thought you might be looking for the basic is, you have a mark on the brass throttle advance plate that comes in contact with the throttle linkage roller that opens the butterfly in the carburetor, you want the marks on the brass plate to make contact with the roller linkage at those marks, which should if aligned correctly at this point just start to move/open the butterfly in your carb. there are 2 screws at the underside of the brass plate to allow for some adjustment,, there also may be a screw on your roller linkage arm for some adjustment also, good luck, & keep us posted welcome to iboats!
