Evinrude 9.9, what year?

I have just bought a brand new Evinrude 9.9 4 stroke with 'High Thrust' and have been told that it is about 3 years old. The only number that I can find is 331154. I don't know if that is a serial number or a part number. It was not bought from a dealer, so would like to be sure of manufacture or release date.<br />Please help?

Thanks for your information, but there doesn't appear to be any tag with model number attached. (a bit suspect)<br /><br />It is a 9.9 hp. 4 stroke outboard with long shaft and high thrust. <br /><br />From what I am able to find, they were produced between 1995 and 2000. <br /><br />Can anyone tell me if there were any differences during this series of outboards. The specifications appear the same from 1995 through 1999.<br /><br />Thanks
