OK all you OMC gurus. I have never had this problem before. I have a customer asking me how to drain the tilt and trim unit completely so he can change the fluid. I cannot find anything in a Clymer manual on this subject. I dont normally work on this large of motor, and am at a loss. I like the little motors.

Thanks a bunch.

I think the motor is a mid 70's 85 hp Evinrude V4

Pat

Re: Evinrude 85 hp tilt&trim question

Hi ya' boatman....

Good question there....don't think I've seen this one befoe since I've been on the forum.

Lots of plugs in the TNT units but I don't think any one of them will completely drain the unit. What he may try is disconnecting the lines to the cylinders and just let the fluid run out. Messy job. Leaving the fill plug out while operating the TNT will push a lot out to. Basically it comes down to draining out as much as you can and flushing the rest out with new fluid.
