evinrude 70hp run lean---worth fixing?

I was wondering if a motor that has been run lean and ruined would be worth buying and repairing at any price? Would a rebore and new rings and pistons likely do the trick, or would the crank and bearings, rods, etc. likely be bad also. I know of a 70hp motor with tilt/trim for sale cheap in this condition and just was wondering if it might be worth getting and fixing for my pontoon barge.
Thanks,
JBJ

I buy these sight unseen as long as I know I can recoup my money parting out the rest of it if need be. So basically, it really depends on the price if you are going to buy before ripping her open. Hard to say without inspection. What year and what do they want for it?

You're going to be better off finding a motor in running condition with decent compression all around. Got to be less expensive than a rebuild, even if you count your time as zero, unless you can get by with a single piston and ring set and boring one hole. But you never really know until a teardown is done. If multiple cylinders are bad, the cost goes up pretty quick, and if the crank is bad, it's a paperweight.
