ok, so I have a 1995 evinrude 70 and all of a sudden, the tilt trim is not working. if I take the motor cover off and depress the buttons on the motor cowling or the throttle, I can hear the electrics on the motor engage (clicking), but no movement on the tilt trim. no sound either, other than the solenoid on the side of the engine where the electrical hooks up. that is where clicking is happening. motor starts and runs fine, no problems there. just an issue with the tilt trim. any ideas?
thanks,
Calvin

dirty contacts on the wires from the trim motor to the relays. look at the wires that come up and through into engine pan from the motor. there is bullet type connectors and these can get corroded. also make sure the earth strap is connected (small stainless steel wire bond) from motor to engine clamp. I had similar issue and it was purely bad dirty connections, or could be a drop of water has got into the motor, DONT PANIC it can happen and easy repair with a new seal.
its just a pain to get at with engine on the boat, but can be done. hope this helps
