Hi
My 6HP Evinrude has lost its information plate many moons ago.
There are two sets of numbers stamped on the cylinder block freeze plug.
BO 7044 and 65B66R.
I have tried to match these up on the internet but with no luck.
I would like to know when this engine was manufactured (Belgum)
as I bought this brand new, just cant remember when.
Can one of you fine people help with this?
Regards

Thank you wayne.
Will stamp this on engine flywheel.
One other thing,I have just stripped the carb and cant seem to be able to find
a main -high speed jet !
Is the long brass tube with a cork gasket and holes drilled through the jet?
If so the bore on this is huge!
I can find a small jet pressed into the carb body,is this the idle/slow speed
jet as I think?

Not having a parts list for that model, I have to assume it is a "regular" OMC carburetor. If so, that brass tube you are looking at is the main nozzle. The high speed jet is deep in the hole behind the hex head drain plug in the carburetor float bowl. It meters the fuel before it gets to the main nozzle.

Not sure about the other thin you are talking about...I'm guessing, is that just above the bowl gasket? That probably would be a restrictor. Doesn't it have an adjustable needle for slow speed jet???

Youll find a parts diagram and parts list in the BRP parts catalog here That should ID all the bits and pieces

That carb should have a fixed high speed jet in the bottom of the bowl. You can't do anything with it. The needle valve protruding from the carb body directly above the carb throat is the low speed jet. This one you can adjust. Intial starting position is 1.5 turns out from gently seated. Once you've got the motor running again and on the boat you can use that needle to adjust the idle.

Glad you got it figured. I feel your pain. It is -11 right now and dropping for next week. I have repaired motors stacking up just waiting for spring. Now I'm on to repairing snowmachines and ice augers.

Re: Evinrude 6hp Year Of Manufacture.

Hi,

I have the same Evinrude 65B66R model. Does anyone of you have any idea of where I can find spare parts and tune-up kits for this motor? When I go to BRP Parts Catalog or to MarinEngin.com I only find models 6504R, 6505R and 6R75R, 6RL75R produced 1975. Is any of those the same as 65B66R or where do I go for help?

My problem is that the fuel pump cant pump, probably because of too low pressure variation in the lower part of the crankcase. I think it could depend of a bad upper crankcase seal, the top seal, or a bad lower crankcase seal, the bottom seal, or may be poor pistons rings. Do you know if there is any seal between the to crankshaft parts to separate the lower part of the crankcase into two separate volums. One should have a pressure when the other has vacuum because of the two pistons going up or down simultaneously. I hope I have got it all right.
