evinrude(68) angler 5hp fuel and prop problem

hi 2 problems, 1st my engine keeps dying after afew minutes, cooling is good, tried lifting fuel tank above engine engine was ok then open to ideas?, 2nd problem is that whilst doing the above the prop hit a sand bank so prop spins freely now please say it has a sheer pin fitted or have i snapped the shaft. serial is 5802,if shaft is snapped were could i get one from or is this going to be a holy grail job,im in the uk,cheers

i have the 67 model its a shear pin. I did the same thing to my motor but i hit a stump instead of a sand bar. Its a real easy and cheap fix. Pull the rubber piece off the end of the prop, pull the cotter pin out of the nut, pull the entire prop off and you cant miss the pin.

phew,thankgod for that (prop), now i just need to sort out the fuel problem, im sure its fuel starvation,fuel tank is new,got new inline fuel filter.<br />thankyou evinrude trouble.

If the motor continues to run if you keep pressure on the primer bulb or keep the tank higher, then it sounds like your fuel pump is not working properly. Make sure the soft spacer behind it is in good condition and tight. <br /><br />If you have a dealer near you, you might just want to get a new fuel pump.

thankyou ezeke, yes we also were having to keep pressure on the primer bulb.<br />thanks again.
