Evinrude 60hp ETEC. Are they any good.

Thinking of dumping my 4 stroke 60 hp Mariner for new etec.<br /><br />Will be running in warm tropical waters (10 deg S.) 3-5 hrs per week<br /><br />Anybody got for's and against's.

The 40, 50, and 60 HP Etec's are all two cylinder motors and have no inherent problems. At idle and slow speeds they exhibit a tad more vibration that a three or four cylinder engine. The 75 would be a three cylinder.

Thanks Upinsmoke.<br /><br />Have been using excellent search button above and realise i'm in the wrong forum. <br />Moving to non repairs, but before i go i was interested to find out from any owners if they have experienced any specific problems before i shell out $10,000.<br />So far all posts seem to say they are OK.<br />But then 2 months ago i would have said that of my 3 yr old mariner. (See tale of woe in Merc/Mariner head replacement gone wrong.)<br />Bye and thanks for all the fish.
