Hi
Do any of you guys know if the engine fitted to the fisherman model is the
same as my later 75 Evinrude 6hp?
I have just finished rebuilding my motor(thanks to this forum and tashasdad) but thought I might pick up another
motor for spares.
I have spotted a fisherman short shaft for sale with transom clamp missing,and was thinking if the power head fits mine I get the bonus of
a short shaft conversion.
I see the coils are under the flywheel on the earlier motor,but the parts
details on this forum show different numbers for the cylinder block.
Again await your reply oh wise ones.

look on the power head for a quarter size disc, it should have the model number, then you can compare the 2 power heads. or post both model #s here.

"Fisherman" covers a multitude of years. If you are speaking of going back into the 5.5hp, there are differences such as not thermostat controlled, and won't accept a fuel pump, different base mounting, among others.
