Hey all, new one here :)

Sent here on a mission from my dad who's recently aquired a boat with the following engine ~ Evinrude 55 Model 55975C Serial B008459.

As far as i've found out it's from 1979 and is a 50-55hp engine, but thats all i know.

He's after a complete spec of the engine, i.e what fuel it runs on (two stroke or pure) oil, the lot. To get it running again.

Help please guy's :)

Re: Evinrude 55 model 55975C spec

First save your dad a lot of grief and buy the factory OEM service manual (marineengine.com or ebay) not Seloc or Clymer but the genuine evinrude manual. While you are waiting for it to arrive read the secret file at the top of this forum. Change the lower unit fluid, change the spark plugs, check the compression, lubricate all the grease fittings, clean or replace the fuel screen and filter. Make sure the fuel tank is clean. Flush it out if its dirty or has old gas oil mix. When the routine maintenance and checks have been done you can mix up some fresh 50:1 fuel mix and run it on test muffs in the driveway with the garden hose. Review the "starting a cold engine" file. Dont rev it up on the garden hose. If all goes well put it in the water and try it out. If you do all of the maintenance, checks and tests before putting it in the water you will have a much better and more pleasant experiance than doing it the other way around. Good Luck!
