hi, any expert out there. I have Evinrude 50 hp out board only know the serial # and model# up there. Can't go full throttle or above 1500 RPM, the motor tend to die, was running perfect last summer, a motor starts up and pump water very good. any ideas or advice will be appreciated, Cal s. Just checked L U and put in new gear oil. Thank you, again.

2, Does this motor have thurmostate?. forgot to mention this is oil injection motor by the way. is it may be something with oil and gas? what 2 cycle oil do I use for the motor? Thank you.

Check compression (100+ psi and even?)

Check spark with s/plugs removed. Spark jumps a 7/16" gap with a strong blue snap?

If the above are okay, suspect clogged, fouled carburetors. Clean and rebuild as needed. Manually clean the high speed jet located horizontally in the bottom center portion of the float chamber (way in back of the drain plug screw) with a piece of single strand steel wire.

Thank you for your reply. I want to varify bofore I will try to do compression check. Do i have to pull down kill switch on the control. I meant land yard switch? so it won't be any spark, Thanks again.

It's not necessary but you can do so to avoid getting a accidental shock. Just be sure to put the lanyard back on before checking the spark.
