Not having another engine to compare, and the
manuals dont seem to show it, I need your help:

On my "new" (ie:used) 1992 200hp Rude, theres a small brass block and nipple which is mounted on the rear top port side of the block. A water hose comes from the telltail, is routed up and behind the powerpack, and into this brass block. On the outside of the block is a nipple which either needs to be plugged or connected to another fitting with a hose. Well... as u can guess, Ive found no other sister fitting for a hose. When running the engine, water of course sprays out of this nipple. So...

1- Should it be plugged, or...
2- Can someone tell me the location of the mystery sister connection?

Im thinking a plug may have got knocked off when they removed this motor from the other boat... just want to be sure.

TIA.

Sounds like someone may have mistakenly "teed" in their water pressure gauge hose there. OMC used a plastic 90 degree fitting there. You can just plug it off although I'm not fond of a brass fitting in an aluminum block in the water passage.

Good luck!

That makes perfect sense now. Ill ask the previous owner about a water pressure gauge. Thanks much.

A very good idea to get one. Just hook it up correctly to get accurate readings.

Good luck!
