Evinrude 1993 90 HP starter bendix spring

Starter just spins and does not engage with flywheel. I applied WD40 but it is still frozen (won't lift up). Tried to remove the starter to replace the whole thing but starter top upper bolt interferes with carb/air intake. Terrible design. Any suggestions?

well, i guess you have more to take off, to get the starter off. that's like on my car, the power steering, alternator, pollution pump, have to come off to get to the water pump.

You might want to try some PB blaster, WD is really for water displacement, that is what is was designed for, it is very good at getting rid of water more so then a lubricate!
