Evinrude 1975 70HP

I have a 1975 70HP Evinrude outboard that needs a little attention to get it running, but I'm not exactly sure what's wrong with it. I can keep it running as long as I keep starter fluid sprayed in it so I think the carps just need to be cleaned and a rebuild kit for extra help. I would also like to know where I can get an OEM decal kit for this motor. If anyone can help me please post..thanks

First off, lose the starting fluid, your motor gets it's lubrication from the oil mixed in the gas. Using starting fluid supplies no lubrication, get a spray bottle that is rated for chemical use and put pre mix fuel in it for future tesing of that variety.

Or if you can get it running, squeeze the fuel primer bulb to keep it running.

Check all of you lines for cracks, loose fittings, etc. and be sure to check your gas in the tank, is there water in there?, how old is it?

Start there and check back with your findings, as for a decal kit, you might get lucky and find a NOS set, keep searching Ebay, or you may have to bite the bullet and pay some decent money for a reproduction set.
