Hello, I'm working on an Evinrude 18hp 1966 (18602c). I went to change the impeller, when I got the old one off and started to put the new one on I noticed a differance, the new one seemed to have a lot of play as it moved down the shaft, also noticed that the old and new impeller are keyed with a slot half moon type key, but the drive shaft has a pin type key, at first I thought the repair center had given me the wrong impeller but I wonder if someone replaced the lower unit from another year model motor and that is why the new impeller does not seem to fit correctly. If this is the case how can I tell what year model the lower unit would be so I can get the correct impeller? Thanks for any help!!
