Picked up a motor today to replace the 20hp that i find too heavy to lift (3 ruptured discs). It has a sticker plate on the mount bracket, with
SE 15 RP LY as model and G03080077 as engine number. I cant find anything that matches that model number to give me a build date. I find it unusual as it appears to be painted in the same colour as my old Johnson; a kind of dark metallic brown, rather than the usual blue. Thanks in advance. It is longshaft.

The model number doesn't match any I can find. There is an E15RPL

Lets start by moving this over to the Johnson/Evinrude forum, instead of the Force forum you started it in.

In 1997, there was an SE15RPLW, and some earlier/later variants of that Model#, but none ended in a Y that I could find either.

Were the commercial grade engines sprayed brown rather than blue? Sorry about posting in the wrong place, did not notice that, thanks for shifting it.
I will try getting some pics of it tomorrow.

I cant seem to post a picture due to size, but there is a short vid here.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAJ_JQ6IDVc&feature=youtu.be

And a photo of the engine and boat details here....http://forum.woodenboat.com/showthr...-A-modified-low-Horsepower-planing-boat/page2

Im very pleased with the way it performed, its only 6 knots down on spped compared to the 20, the major difference is that i can easily lift it on and off the boat without upsetting my 3 ruptured discs, which was the whole point of the change, happy with the result..
