O.K. you guys how hard is it to change the impeller in the water pump, or am I better off going to a marina, Iam fairly handy with a wrench but have the fear of screwing up. I purchased a repair manual its a 1986 V4 vro evinrude. any input would help thanks ED

the worst part is disconnecting and reconnecting the shift rod under the carb. the rest is mech 101. don't forget to replace the oring on the drive shaft. you are better of with a rebuild kit, than just the impeller, as it has all the seals.

Use a 1/4 inch drive ratchet with an extension and a swivel adapter with a little electrical tape around it so it does not flop around to get to the shift rod bolt.Go at it from the port side of the engine.I think i put mine in reverse and it raised the linkage up and was better to get to the bolt.Screw the bolt out just enough to release the shift rod that way when you put it back together the bolt is already in place.

I go after my 1987 from the starboard side sorta under/thru the shift & throttle cables.
