hi guys i just brought a boat it has a evinrude 140hp on it i would guess the motor is early 80's the owner said that theres to much oil pressure so when the engine is cold it will blow a little smoke nothing to much but noticeable its nothing like a current 4 stroke ;) he said the smoke goes away after 5mins of running the motor and after the motor is turned off a little oil leaks from the prop/exhaust does anyone know what could be going on? the oil container i was told is under the floor
all help appreciated guys

Compression test the motor.

There's no such thing as "oil pressure" in a 2-stroke engine. The seller is either ignorant or pulling your chain. I think a little smoking at cold start is normal, but if there's a lot and it goes on for awhile it's because unburned gas/oil mix is being pushed past the (worn) piston rings. That would also explain the unburned mix dripping out the exhaust after you stop the motor.

smoke during a cold startup for these motors is normal.
when they warm up it should be less.

if its exessive you might have a leaking vro pump.

check the spark plugs and tell us how they look like
the best way to eliminate oiling problems wich could lead to major engine problems is to mix the oil yourself.

i know lot of people like the Vro system but on an older motor you have 3 options:
-1 relaying on your 30 year old oil injection pump.
-2 replacing it with a brand new pump
-3 disconnecting the oil warning system capping of the oil inlet in the pump, and using it as a straight fuel pump mixing 50:1 yourself.

in my opinion # 3 is most secure and cheapest way to do it.
