I have a 1981 evinrude 115 it was starting fine and I turned the key all the way off and tried to restart it and nothing no power to the key or the choke switch I had to replace the ignition due to the key being broken into the ignition, well I turned the key all the way off and it will not start now with the key. I replaced the ignition and it still will not start. The ignition is shocking me after starting by jumping the starter while the boat is running, I can start it by jumping the starter though. Any ideas what this might be. Thanks in advance.

You may have blown the engine fuse. There is a fuse on the engine wiring harness under the cowling. Small, 20 amp glass fuse. Make sure you don't have other boat accessories powered through the control box. (bilge pump, radio, horn, etc.) That fuse won't handle it. The only other thing you can connect to the control box is a tach.

Your queston is a little confusing. Would it not start before you broke the key in the switch. And you replaced the switch and it still will not start?? Reread your post and maybe clarify a little.

It was a blown fuse thanks, well now I have it running and replaced the pump that pumps water out the boat as well, we got it on the lake and it won't get up to speed like normal. It starts off extremely slow and and then all of the sudden it just takes off. Its like the get up and go has got up and gone. Really weird could it be the prop? I thought maybe but wanted to ask to see if anyone might know before I spend any money. Thank in Advance this mama sure would like to get some fun out of it for my boys before the end of the summer.

First thing to check is the timer base to make sure it's movng freely. Next pull one plug wire at a time when it acts up and see if you have a cyl that isn't firing. If a cyl is okay, you should get a power drop.
