In the spring I am going to put my newly bought Evinrude 115 on my light, deep V 17´Clipper.

Boat weighs 550 lbs dry.

Where do I start ? Will cavitation plate 1" above lower point of V be correct ? Will the holes in transom from my 1988 40HP be reuseable ?

Re: Evinrude 115 getting right setup

1" is not a bad starting point. The final X dimension will be determined by the prop and setback, among other things, that you use. An SST will run higher than an aluminum, a Raker a little higher, a Stiletto higher, a Turbo a little higher yet etc. A 4 blade will run higher than a 3 blade (of the same make).

Yor target rpm's will be 5900 with an average load.

Good luck!
