Evinrude 112 special

1995 evinrude 112 special, power trim. I bought this boat 2 months ago. Has a 6 amp system. With reg marine batteries installed, it charges to 16 volts and kicks my depth finder off line. Do I need to change this stator and put a 3-9 amp stator on and a regulator instead of a rectifier?

Not familiar with that charging system, but it should have a regulator in conjunction with the rectifier. Sure sounds like the regulator is bad. . .That would be my guess.
