evenrude 25hp jumping out of gear

I used my outboard at the weekend, at first it ran fine at top speed , but after an hour it started to jump, It will only go to half throttle then the outboard jumps , looks like it is trying to jump out of gear, hold the gear lever and it moves when it is jumping , any ideas!

How's the lower unit lube look? Did the prop strike anything? Hopefully it's just a shifter adjustment issue and not the clutch dog and gear. Kinda pricey!<br /><br />------------------<br />I'm going to invent a TCW3/citronella oil blend and make a fortune!

What year is the motor,sounds like a clutch dog and worn gears, check gear oil for metal<br />chips,if so, pull apart and check for worn gears, if so replace clutch dog and forw&rev<br />gears,clean out metal chips,good luck.

Forgot to say , I also have a spare 20 hp johnson outboard with a good bottom leg<br /> , would it be hard to change them over. Will have a look at the gear oil at the weekend , dont have a garage and it is raining here in Scotland at the moment.

Since no one asked ,I will . Is this a shear pin or spline propshaft?

split the gearcase on sunday and clutch dog and gears all worn, changed out gears from spare engine, have been up at loch lomand all week and engine is now running great. Thanks to everyone for advice. <br />CHEERS
