Anyone have experience with this or know whether i can get a person to come do it?cost? Needs to be done for transport of a '90 sea ray. I assume these fridges have some sort of access panel so the whole thing doesnt have to be removed. Thanks for any info

Confused... are you saying that to transport the boat, it is a requirement to remove the freon from the refridgerator? Never heard that before...

Yup, dont even know how its being transported i guess the company doesnt want any liability with the gas. I guess ill ask around locally figured this would give me an idea quicker but sounds like its not common

That sounds like BS, I don't believe for one minute that the EPA requires the refrigerant be evacuated from an appliance to transport.

any company that does cooling repair can do this for you (mechanical, plumbing contractor)
Should be less than $100, that is if you can find someone that's not swamped right now.

Is this fridge capable of running on propane? Sure thats not what they want is the propane evacuated? Freon components are transported all the time. They may not want to deal with issues of tranporting propane.

Something doesn't sound right. I would check with the mover again to make sure of the gasses you need removed. If he want's you to drain the coolant out of the fridge I would get another mover.

My neighbors truck runs on propane, I have a lantern that as well as a heater that runs propane gets transported everyday. I do commercial refrigeration and carry refrigerants of all types right on my truck. I do not believe any of it unless it's something to do with customs over the border.

Yes but I think propane is different is you are transporting it commercially. I know that a private individual can only transport a certain amount of fuel before you need hazmat (I have gotten the ticket). But I think if you are commercial any amount probably qualifies and you may need a hazmat.

Maybe a hazmat trucker will step in and set us straight.
