ethanol for heating

The fuel that gets delivered to my house for heating is dyed desiel oil. Can ethanol be used in it's place? If so what modifications are required? What are some of the problems???<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Nick

Its really not even close and i think its much higher flammability would be a real saftey problem in a house.<br /><br /><br />tommays

Not at all. Ethanol is much more expensive for the same amount of BTUs.

There are people using biodiesel for heating use.

ethanol and home heating oil is like comparing apples to oranges. Even though they are both flamable they are very different from each other.
