ETEC Tilt jumpy when going down

I have a 2007 etec 225 the tilt jumps real bad when going down but is fine going up I have put all new atf in and Cycled well over 50 times still jumps no matter what I do. anyone have this problem? Also put a brand new trim motor on trying to solve the problem but no luck

Your best bet for etec issues is enation! Got to evinrudes site and join e-nation.There are a couple of evinrude techs and experts on the site.

Very common problem. I personally think it is due to a bad check valve internal to the TT unit. I have also heard that it could be damaged trim and tilt cylinders causing the ram pistons to bind. I doubt that one.
The check valves are not available for the FastTrack TT systems.

So what to do? The answer is to TIGHTEN the tilt tube nut on the stbd side until the problem goes away. It is that large 1-1/4 inch nut the steering rod passes thru.

Tighten to cause bind, and smoothing out the DOWN function. Not a good fix, but it works.

And lube all the fittings you find on the steering bracket.
