I have a 2010 ETEC, 30hp.. The past 3 months I've been getting, what I feel is excessive smoking from the uppermost exhaust port, as well as alot of "hissing and steaming" from the lowermost exhaust when I come off of a plane..
From the uppermost exhaust port, I now have an Oily.Sooty Residue coming out..
I took it back to the certified authorized mechanics at a local marina 2 months ago.. They said they stuck a camera into the exhaust port, said the megaphone exhaust tuner is fine but, they found 1 small split in 2 of the impellor vanes and replaced the impellor..
When I spoke to the factory on the phone about the problem, they said the EMM computer will "over oil" the engine if it isn't getting enough water for cooling (overheating just a touch), hence the "oily, sooty residue"..
Well, after 14 hours over 2 days on the water, I have more "Oily, Sooty Residue" coming out of the uppermost exhaust port and I swear the engine is sounding louder.. I'm wearing earplugs on the long 6 to 8 hour non-stop trips, covering long distances..
