Hay guys

I bought a left over Etec 150 - 2007 and I have a problem. :(

The VRO no oil light comes on after I get it in the water after one use.

Oil ran thought the houses during set up and test start no problem.

I checked the Oil at the connection joint and after the oil filter when primed they both flow good when I hit the primmer bulb.

While all connected I can not prime into oil tubes now and the pump is running dry. No oil getting in

What do I have here? Where do I look?

Note:
I used the older type of Oil tank that I had with a 1997 Oceanrunner, which I was told was the same.

I was also told I do not have an oil return.

You need a dealer to get the oiling right before running the motor again. There is no oil return. Purging the oiling system of air is needed most likely and a dealer should do it. Who rigged the motor, anyway?? Don't risk smoking the motor!

Re: Etec 07 VRO Help

I had a mechanic with 30+ years hook it up.

Everything was good. Oil went into the engine fine when he hooked it up - I was there.

Just wondering if it could have been something with the older type of tank?

Your thoughts if any.

And yes I'm going to bring it in for a check.

What older tank? The oil tank is in the engine compartment.

How in the world did you get an old VRO pump on an E-Tec????

Gentlemen

I?m talking about the Oil reserve tank and the impact of using an older one for Etecs.

Is there any?

You understand the Etec does NOT use VRO ... oil is NOT mixed with gas, but directly injected into various locations on the engine? It is absolutely critical the the oiling be working properly ALWAYS or you can kiss your engine goodbye. Why you would mess with using the old oil tank is beyond me, when the motor has an integral oil tank. Typically, techs will set the EMM for double oiling when doing the purge thing.

From what you are describing it sounds like the oil system was not bled enough. The winterizing procedure sometimes works in a pinch, but a dealer using the prime oil feature on the laptop does a better job.

A trained tech would also know how to "burp" the oil pressure sensor should that be necessary.

If you rigged the motor yourself, have a trained tech check out the whole electrical, fuel, and oil systems and hookups because any problems related to incorrect maintenance, rigging, or adjustments may not be covered. Read the warranty statement.

Using an older oil tank could cause problems if there is sludge or water emulsion on the bottom, if the teabag filter is partially plugged, and there is a great possiblility for air leakage due to brittle, cracked, or restricted hoses and/or wrong clamps or connections. The alarm system for LOW OIL will not work correctly either if the tank was for a 1995 or earlier motor. Only tanks for 1996 and later have the correct internal circuitry for newer motors.

Another reason for a trained tech is there is a critical software update for certain model numbers of the 150 E-TEC. It is mandatory if your motor falls in that category.
