So there we are a bunch of 12-14 yr old campers on a YMCA canoe trip at the mouth of the Moon river on Georgian Bay when a sailboat under power comes cruising up the shallow approach to get close to the waterfall there.
Wifey is standing in the bow holding the rail and looking out for Rocks .
Capt Courageous is at the helm yellin at her to keep a close eye when of course they hit a rock , the boat stops dead there is a loud crash from inside the cabin , she flips over the rail and is hanging up to her waist in the water while Capt Courageous pops off an expletive and scurries into the cabin to see what happened without shutting down the power.
She starts screamin just as we hear a fire extinguisher going off intermittently in the cabin and the boat gets sideways in the fairly swift current .hits another rock and almost goes over. She jumps for it so she wont end up under the boat and realizes its so shallow there she can stand easily.
Capt Courageous then starts screamin for his wife's help, not realizing she not aboard anymore, about how the kerosene stove is trying to burn the good ship lollipop to the waterline and how do you turnit off?
Meanwhile the long shaft outboard is busy chewin its prop to bits on the variuos rocks the boat is now bumpin over leaving the wife standing in the water as it motors helmless for the shore.
We start screamin for our counselors and guide up at the campsite to come and help when Capt Courageous finally pops up to scream at his useless wife some more and realizes she is not there and the good ship lollipop is in grave peril and out of control. swivels the tiller just in time motors down a bit and has the presence of mind to dock at a nice square rock to recover his wife who looks as happy as a wet cat and with about the same armament ready.
Nothing hurt but dignity and is wasn't until later that we realised how funny it was, as at the time we were scared as all get out and figgerd somebody was going to drown.
