enricher valve - vibrating open??

THE PROBLEM:
at start up, I had the cover off, (just replaced transfer post gasket) the motor started fine, let it warm up, and adjusted the idle to 800 rpm's, checked the enricher valve was closed, (it was).

after running about 45 mins, i idled the motor, it died and would not start (sounded flooded) the enricher valve had completely opened, I closed it and it started right up!

Is this a common problem? Is there a way to lock it closed?
The solenoid works properly when the key is pushed in.

any suggestions?

The first would be let us know what type engine your working on. Most enrichment valves are spring load off so if yours is doing as you say then it needs to be replaced
