We are looking at a new 24 ft Tri-Toon with a Merc 150 optimax. Ideally we would like to cruise with 5 adults, and occasionally pull a couple of adults on a couple of tubes. The wife likes to slalom ski and occasionally maybe 2 people on double ski's. Do people think that a 150 will get these things done? For the record I think that I will be, the dealer thinks it will be, but the wife thinks that anything without a 350 couldn't possibly pull a skier. Some help and real world examples of your activities and horsepower would go a long way in closing the deal.

THanks

5 adults and 2 double skiers will be near the limits but I think it's possible.

You'll not have any problem doing what you want to do with the 150 hp on a tri-toon.

Pontoons bows don't rise (like a hulled boat) when they start, and they'll actually accelerate quickly from a start. It's on top end speed that they "hit a wall". As long as you have the mph to pull skiers, don't worry about it doing the job.
