engine won't run in gear

1988, 60hp merc, 3cyl, s/n BO286286. I can get the carbs adjusted to idle and run in gear in my driveway and it idles in the water but bogs to a stop almost immediately in gear. The switch box and coils have been changed. Both carbs and fuel pump have been rebuilt. Have a new bulb and line to engine.

Howdy neighbor.<br /><br />Carbs should not be adjusted in gear with no load. You end up with a too lean mix for loaded operation.<br /><br />What happens if you choke (or prime) it when you put it in gear? How about if you squeeze your primer bulb?<br /><br />Have you confirmed that all three cylinders are making power?<br /><br />Let us know. Maybe someone here will have an idea.<br />
